What's in the Background Tool?

the Background tool allows you to create:

  • Colors

  • Gradients

  • Textures

  • Scenes

  • Places

  • Nature

  • People

  • Animals

Browsing Backgrounds

  • Locate and select the Background tool at the top of the screen.

  • The Backgrounds sidebar will pop out containing all of the categories of backgrounds that you can add to your canvas.

Creating Backgrounds

Simply locate the kind of background you want to create and click it to add it to your canvas.

Color and Gradient Backgrounds are unique.

They appear on your canvas but can only be selected via the layer stack.

You can have one color or gradient on the canvas at a time. Other background categories appears as image layers and do not have this limit. Because they are image layers, they can be repositioned, resized, cropped, and rotated.

Accessing the Layer Stack

Regardless of what side panel you are in, clicking the back arrow will reveal the layer stack. Selecting the background layer will bring up the background layer options.

Editing Background Colors and Gradients

After you select the background layer from the layer stack. You will be presented with options to adjust that background layer to best suit your design.

Understanding and Adjusting Layers

Layers at the top of the stack will appear in front of other elements in your design.

Layers at the bottom of the stack will appear behind elements (or in back).

Clicking and dragging layers in the layer stack will change how layers appear in your design.

In the animation below, the circle appears behind the square. When the circle layer is dragged to the top of the layer stack it appears in front of the square.
